RCB vs KKR IPL 2025 highlights: Toss delayed due to persistent rain.

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders will open the 18th season of the Indian Premier League at the Eden Gardens, where they will take on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22, 2025. The match will likely be interrupted by rain due to prevailing weather conditions in Kolkata. An Orange Alert has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department for Saturday.

According to the IPL playing conditions, the scheduled time for the toss to take place for an evening match is 7:00 PM IST, with the first innings starting at 7:30 PM. The cutoff time for a 20-over game is 9:35 PM. After that, we will start losing overs.

According to the rules, a standard 20-over match must culminate at 11:06 PM. However, if rain interrupts play, the IPL playing conditions provide an extra hour in league matches. In the worst possible scenario, the umpires can reduce the game to a five-over affair. The cutoff time for a five-over match is 10:56 PM IST, and the match must be concluded by 12:06 AM.

As always, toss will play a vital role in this match, more so because of the inclement weather conditions. It’s been raining in Kolkata for the past few days, and more of the same is unfortunately expected on match day. The side batting first in such cases faces significant issues as the uncertainty caused due to the overheads makes it unclear what the ideal score is. Both Ajinkya Rahane (KKR) and Rajat Patidar (RCB) will have to figure out what to do if they win the toss today.
